Baseball takes on Arkansas Baptist in return to Coker Field
For the first time since 2020, the defending regular season conference champion Wiley University baseball team will play at its home Coker Field when it hosts a three-game series against Arkansas Baptist College on Friday and Saturday.
Friday's doubleheader and Saturday's finale will both start at noon. Live statistics are available for all three games and the links are listed in the baseball schedule on wileyathletics.com. The last time the Wildcats played at Coker Field was on March 11, 2020, which ended up being the season finale due to the rise of the coronavirus pandemic.
Wiley (3-4) is coming off a 17-2 loss against Nelson University on Tuesday. Ryan Ready recorded two hits, scored a run and drove one in. Ivan Del Villar got two hits, including a RBI triple. Last season the Wildcats were 11-6 in their home games.
Arkansas Baptist (0-1) opened the season with a 13-3 loss against LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday. Gauada Ocasio went 3-for-3 with two runs. Henner Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Rodney Gonzales started on the mound and gave up 13 runs on 10 hits. The Buffaloes went 2-8 last season.
The Wildcats will meet Arkansas Baptist for the second, third and fourth times this weekend. It beat the Buffaloes 9-8 in 2023 at Airport Park.
