Porter claims HBCUAC Pitcher of the Week
After a dominant performance in the series opener against Wilberforce University on Friday, Wiley University pitcher Jalen Porter earns Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Pitcher of the Week for March 24-30, the conference announced on Monday.
Porter threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings, only allowing the Bulldogs five hits, with one going for extra bases. He matched his career-high with 12 strikeouts. Porter's performance helped the Wildcats sweep the series and remain tied for second in the HBCUAC. His weekly honor is the sixth for Wiley. Keyon Guillory was twice named Pitcher of the Week. Isaac Burciaga also earned Pitcher of the Week. Ivan Del Villar and Smauri Abram was named Player of the Week.
The Wildcats (22-12, 14-4 HBCUAC) visited Texas A&M University-Texarkana today and will travel to Oakwood University for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
