Guillory repeats as HBCUAC Pitcher of the Year, Eight land on All-HBCUAC Teams
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - For the second consecutive season, Wiley University pitcher Keyon Guillory was recognized as the 2025 Pitcher of the Year in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC). He was one of eight Wildcats selected for the All-HBCUAC Teams, as announced by the conference on Tuesday during the HBCUAC 2025 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship Reception at Argenta Plaza.
The HBCUAC head baseball coaches nominated and voted on players for the All-HBCUAC Teams. Guillory was even more dominant in his sophomore season. He went 9-3, including 7-1 in HBCUAC games. Guillory led the conference with a 2.52 earned-run average and is tied with his teammate Jalen Porter for the HBCUAC lead in strikeouts at 97.
Ryan Ready earned All-HBCUAC First Team at third base. He hit .330 and ranked in the top 15 in the conference with 44 runs and 42 RBI. Centerfielder Eddie Garza earned All-HBCUAC First Team. He hit .339 in the leadoff position. He ranks in the top 20 with a .476 on-base percentage and scored 35 runs. Nick Rodriguez garnered All-HBCUAC First Team relief pitcher, though most of his appearances were starts. He went 7-2 and struck out 59 batters.
Anthony Castaneda was named to the All-HBCU Athletic Conference Second Team as a catcher. He gave the Wildcats a boost at the bottom of the order, hitting .339 with 13 RBIs. Defensively, he held a .966 fielding percentage with 186 putouts and caught 13 runners stealing. Ivan Del Villar earned Second Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season. He finished second in the conference with 10 home runs. He ranked in the top 10 with 49 RBI and 48 runs. Smauri Abram garnered Second Team All-Conference Designated Hitter. He hit .333 with five home runs and 27 RBI. Jalen Porter was an All-HBCUAC Second Team Selection. He won seven games with six during HBCUAC play. He struck out a conference-best 97 batters.
The Wildcats finished runner-up in the regular season, winning eight of 10 conference series, sweeping six. They open the HBCUAC Championship against No. 7 seed Rust College at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
