Perez, Lewis earn NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes
Wiley University baseball players Jacob Perez and Coren Lewis were recognized for their academic performance, earning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar Athletes.
Perez and Lewis were among 1,112 athletes who maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher and played at least two seasons with their respective institutions. This is the third time the athletes have been honored. Both athletes are two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars. Perez was named the 2025 Arthur Ashe Jr. Baseball Sports Scholar of the Year. The athletes were listed on the conference's honor roll every season, including the last three years in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference.
Perez was a starter in left field. He hit .260 with six home runs and 36 runs batted in. He graduated in May with his bachelor's in criminal justice. Lewis was a relief pitcher.
