Five Wildcats earn Black College Nines Elite Honors

The 2025 Wiley University baseball team gained more accolades as four players and sports information director Andrew Glover garnered recognition from Black College Nines Small School Elite awards, the organization announced in an online release.

Black College Nines, honored 49 athletes who competed at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

After earning Freshman of the Year and Elite First Team in 2024, Keyon Guillory was named 2025 BCN co-Pitcher of the Year and Elite First Team. He continued where he left off in his freshman season, posting a 9-3 record with a 3.05 earned-run average. Guillory finished second in the HBCU Athletic Conference with 97 strikeouts. He was a Preseason All-HBCUAC First Team Selection and a Black College Nines Preseason Elite First Team selection. Guillory claimed HBCUAC Pitcher of the Week three times, repeated as Pitcher of the Year and earned his second straight All-HBCUAC First Team Selection. For the second straight season, Guillory was selected to the Minority Baseball Prospects All-Star Game.

Ryan Ready earned his second consecutive Elite First Team selection. Batting clean-up, Ready hit .340, scoring 44 runs and driving in 42. Twenty of his 59 hits went for extra bases with 17 doubles and three home runs. Ready was selected to the All-HBCUAC First Team and was a Preseason All-HBCUAC First Team selection and a Preseason BCN Elite Second Team Selection.

Ivan Del Villar hit 10 home runs, marking the second consecutive season he eclipsed double digits. He drove in 49 runs while scoring 48. For the third straight season, Del Villar was represented on the All-Conference teams, earning All-HBCUAC Second Team. He earned Player of the Week for February 3-9. Del Villar was a Preseason All-HBCUAC Second Team selection.

Porter, who started the season in the bullpen, earned his way to a spot in the starting rotation. He led the HBCUAC with 115 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings. Porter was named Pitcher of the Week three times and won seven games. He earned his second All-Conference selection with a spot on the All-HBCUAC Second Team.

For the third consecutive season and fourth in the last five, in which Wiley competed, Glover was named Black College Nines Small School Sports Information Director of the Year for his coverage of the Wildcats. He successfully nominated 11 HBCUAC Players of the Week. Along with serving as Wiley University's SID, Glover took on the role with the HBCUAC and presided over all the awards. He served as the statistician at the HBCUAC baseball championship for the second straight season.

Guillory, Ready, Del Villar and Porter helped the Wildcats finish 34-17 and 24-6 during HBCUAC play. They finished runner-up in the regular season and won two games in the HBCUAC Baseball Championship.
