TOUGALOO, Miss. - Wiley University baseball took advantage of clutch hits and strong pitching to take all three games against Tougaloo College with 4-2, 9-3 and 4-3 victories in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference series Sunday and Monday at Earl Sanders Field.
The Wildcats (20-16, 12-6 HBCUAC) remain a game behind Huston-Tillotson University for first in the HBCUAC West Division and hold a one-game lead over Southern University at New Orleans. The victories clinched a berth in the 2026 Hope Credit Union HBCUAC Baseball Championship.
SUNDAY
GAME 1
GAME 1
Wiley struck first when Eddie Garza singled with one out in the first. He stole second and scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Ivan Del Villar extended the lead with his third home run of the season with two outs in the third inning. Tougaloo pulled within one with three hits in the fourth inning. Trey Clark hit an RBI double in the fifth and Ajari Camp singled and scored on an error in the sixth.
Del Villar and Clark both went 2-for-4. Amir Mason got a hit and scored a run. Ethan Jones picked up his fifth win. He struck out seven batters in six innings. Juan Pena earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning and struck out one.
GAME 2
Mason went 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Clark hit 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Kaleb Gilner went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead on run-scoring singles by Mason and Gilner. An error helped Tougaloo get on the board in the second inning. Clark hit an RBI single and John Barajas scored on an error to push the margin to four. RBI singles by Mason, Clark and a run-scoring triple by Garza pushed the lead to eight.
Estevan Baca earned his sixth win and third complete game. None of the three runs he allowed were earned. He struck out five batters.
MONDAY

With the score even at one, Ajari Camp hit his fifth home run to put the Wildcats in the lead with one out in the third inning. They added insurance runs in the eighth. Mason reached on an error and Clark singled. Another error moved them into scoring position. Del Villar brought both of them home with a single.
An error set up Tougaloo as it scored two runs on a hit batter and a single. Nick Rodriguez got two popups to end the inning. Kadin Resendez picked up his second save as he got a groundout and two strikeouts to seal the game. Rodriguez picked up his fourth victory. In eight innings, he allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out seven. Camp, Del Villar and Marshel Herman each got two hits.
The Wildcats will visit Arkansas Baptist College for a doubleheader beginning at noon on Wednesday. They will close the regular season against SUNO with a three-game series starting on Saturday.
