Men's Basketball heads to Wilberforce for HBCUAC Crossover
The Wiley University men's basketball team will resume Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) play with a crossover at Wilberforce University and Athletes in Action Friday through Saturday.
The Wildcats will tip off against the host Bulldogs at 2 p.m. Friday. They will play Rust College at 6 p.m. Saturday at Athletes in Action. After a day of rest on Sunday, Wiley will conclude with Fisk University at 6 p.m. Monday at Athletes in Action and Voorhees University at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilberforce University. Wiley (3-4, 1-2 HBCUAC) looks to snap a two-game losing streak. It hasn't played since November 26 against the University of Texas at Tyler in an exhibition game. Tayvion Fisher has put up five games with 20 or more points. He ranks third in the HBCUAC with 19.4 points per game. Devon Barshow is averaging 14.6 points per game and scored 20 or more twice. Jalen Bates leads the conference and ranks 12th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with 2.7 steals per game. He is second in the conference with 4.3 assists per game.
Friday's game will mark the first meeting between Wiley and Wilberforce since the 1953-54 season. The Bulldogs are third in the conference with a 4-1 record in HBCUAC play. Cali Davis ranks fifth in the conference with 18.6 points per game.
Wiley and Rust will meet for the 30th time. The Wildcats have won five of six games against the Bearcats since joining the conference in 2022. Wiley is 3-3 against Fisk. It will look to avenge last season's quarterfinal loss. Tuesday will be the first time the Wildcats and Tigers have met on the court.
