Men's Basketball tips off 2025 at HBCUAC Crossover
The Wiley University men's basketball team starts 2025 at a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Crossover hosted by Talladega College and Stillman College from Friday through Monday.
The Wildcats (5-6, 3-4 HBCUAC) open at Talladega College at 4 p.m. Friday. They will visit Stillman College at 4 p.m. Saturday. Wiley wraps the crossover against Oakwood University at noon Monday at Talladega College. All three games will stream on the Wiley University Channel on the Urban Edge Network. It can be viewed online or fans can download the free application to their streaming devices.
Wiley is coming off a split at its crossover at Wilberforce University. Tayvion Fisher leads the team and ranks seventh in the HBCUAC with 16.5 points per game. Demarius Pitts follows at 14.5 points per game. Jalen Bates ranks fourth in the conference with 2.6 steals per game and fifth with 3.9 assists per game.
Talladega (8-6, 2-4 HBCUAC) is on a four-game losing streak after coming up empty in its crossover at Dillard University and Southern University at New Orleans. Corey Sands leads the Tornadoes with 13.1 points per game. Shaun Walker is the top rebounder with 6.1 per game.
Stillman (7-6, 5-1 HBCUAC) is one of three teams with one loss during HBCUAC play. It is coming off a two-game losing streak with defeats against SUNO and Faulkner University. Calvin Finch Jr. leads the Tigers with 14.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Oakwood (1-12, 0-6 HBCUAC) is still searching for its first conference victory and is on a 10-game losing streak. Jordan Bell leads the team with 13.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
The Wildcats lost their only meeting against Talladega last season. They split with Oakwood with each team winning on its home court. Wiley leads the overall series 3-1. Saturday will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and Tigers.
