Cortez wins HBCUAC Defensive Player of the Week
Wiley University men's basketball center Cortez Collins earned Historically Black Colleges and Universities Defensive Player of the Week after a standout performance during the Week of October 27-November 2.
In three games, Collins grabbed 17 rebounds with 12 on defense, blocked 10 shots and stole the ball three times. He tied the program record for blocks in a single game with six against University of North Texas Dallas on Saturday. Collins ranks second in the conference with 2.5 blocks per game.
His award is the first for the Wildcats since the first half of the 2023-24 season. They rematch against Texas College on November 8.
