Ulloa garners Preseason Offensive Player of the Year; Reyes, Castillo earn Preseason All-HBCUAC
Wiley University sophomore midfielder Anthony Ulloa caught the attention of the head men's soccer coaches in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference, as he was selected as the 2025 HBCUAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. His teammates, Juan Reyes and Aaron Castillo earned spots on the Preseason All-HBCUAC Team, which was released by the conference on Thursday.
The head coaches nominated and voted for the awards. In his freshman season, Ulloa led the Wildcats with seven goals and an assist. He was named to the All-Continental Athletic Conference Second Team and twice earned Offensive Player of the Week. Ulloa also led the Wildcats in shots with 27. He ranked in the top 10 of the CAC in goals and top 15 in points.
Reyes enters his third season as a team captain. He's a leader on the defense and helps set up the offense. Castillo led the team with four assists and found the back of the net twice. Six of his 10 shots were on goal. The trio helped the Wildcats to three victories last season.
Preseason Team Rankings
The Wildcats were picked to finish second in the HBCU Athletic Conference, only trailing Talladega College, whom they beat in last season's finale. They won three matches in a challenging schedule that featured four matches against National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national championship qualifiers.
The majority of last season's core players return this season. Wiley opened the 2025 season on Monday against North American University. It takes on Texas Wesleyan University later today.
