Ulloa, Nievas claim First HBCUAC Weekly Honors
Wiley University midfielder Anthony Ulloa wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive Player of the Week. His teammate Kevin Nievas earns Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week. The men were recognized for their performance between August 18-31, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ulloa, the 2025 HBCUAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, set up Wiley's game-tying goal with a perfect pass to Aaron Castillo late in the first half. He blasted the game-winning goal from over 40 yards in the 79th minute, to lead the Wildcats to a 2-1 victory over Texas Wesleyan, marking the first time they beat the Rams since 2017. Ulloa also led the team with six shots and four on goal.
Nievas made his collegiate debut at goalkeeper and stopped eight shots in his first two matches. He made three crucial saves in the second half against Texas Wesleyan that kept the match tied. He is tied for the lead in the HBCUAC in saves.
The Wildcats visit Jarvis Christian University on Wednesday.
