Men's Soccer comes up empty against LSU-Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. - Wiley University men's soccer could not find the back of the net as it fell 4-0 against Louisiana State University of Alexandria Wednesday at the Generals Soccer Field.
The match was delayed over an hour and 30 minutes due to lightning. Due to no lights at the field, the teams played two 40-minute halves instead of the traditional 45-minute halves. The Wildcats were held scoreless for the first time in six matches. They were outshot 14-6 and 9-2 in shots on goal.

Anfernee Bascombe had a scoring chance in the second minute that was stopped by the Generals' goalkeeper Ivan Capurro. Wiley fell behind in the fourth minute and gave two more in the 23rd and 26th minutes. It didn't get another shot on goal until the 79th minute.

Kevin Nievas made saves on four shots. Emilio Camacho took over in the 66th minute, making his collegiate debut. He stopped one shot.

The match was physical with 26 fouls and five yellow cards issued. The Wildcats will visit No. 10 William Carey University, which advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship, on Friday.
