Men's Soccer blanks Huston-Tillotson, clinches No. 1 seed in HBCUAC West
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Jayce Graves scored twice and Daniel Rojas made two saves to lift Wiley University men's soccer to a 2-0 victory over Huston-Tillotson University, locking up the No. 1 seed in the Historically Black Colleges Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) West Division on Monday at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
The Wildcats (7-3-2, 3-0-1 HBCUAC) went unbeaten during HBCUAC play and outscored their opponents 10-2. Rojas stopped a penalty kick, which preserved the lead in the 47th minute. He made another save in the 67th minute to record his third complete shutout and fourth overall this season. The Wildcats had to defend seven corner kicks.
The match was very physical, with 31 fouls called and 15 cards issued, including one red.
The Wildcats earned a bye to the semifinals and will face the winner of East No. 2 seed Oakwood University and West No. 3 seed Paul Quinn College at 6 p.m. November 5 at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Tickets for the 2025 HBCUAC Soccer Championship are on sale.
