Ulloa earns NAIA All-American Third Team
After dominating the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) and leading Wiley University men's soccer in scoring, Anthony Ulloa secured a spot on the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American Third Team, announced on Tuesday.
He is the first player in program history to earn All-American Honors and was one of 54 athletes selected nationwide by the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Association Executive Committee and four men's soccer head coaches representing different regions of the association.
For the second straight season, Ulloa led the Wildcats in scoring with six goals and four assists. He was tied for the conference lead in goals at the end of the regular season. Most of his goals were clutch with three match-winners and one match-tying goal. Two of his assists came in the HBCUAC championship game, helping the Wildcats to a 4-2 victory over Huston-Tillotson University for their second conference championship in program history. Ulloa earned HBCUAC Offensive Player of the Year, All-HBCUAC, All-Tournament and four Offensive Player of the Week Awards.
In two seasons, Ulloa has 13 goals, five assists and 31 points, which is tied for fourth in program history. He played at Kipp High School in Houston. Ulloa is expected to return next season as the Wildcats look to defend their conference title and make a deeper run in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship.
