Garrett qualifies for 60-meter Hurdles Final

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Wiley University men's track and field athlete Ronald Garrett ran one of the fastest times in the 60-meter hurdles as he qualified for the final at the Samford University Bulldog Open Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Garrett finished the preliminary in 8.40, sixth out of 19 in a field that featured National Collegiate Athletic Association athletes. He ran 8.38 in the final. He also ran the Wildcats top time in the 60-meter dash (7.08) and 200-meter dash (22.76).

Jaylon Donson ran 52.39 in the 400-meter dash. Jaden Cole led the Wildcats in the 800-meter run (2:14.40). Javoun Goldsby finished the mile run in 5:12.83. Garrett, Donson, Cole and Goldsby finished the 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:29.45. Xavier Hutchinson competed in the high jump (1.79 meters), long jump (5.90 meters) and triple jump (12.44 meters). Caleb Benefield throw in the shot put (7.69 meters).

The meet wrapped the indoor season for the Wildcats. They will begin their outdoor season in March.
