Men's Track and Field competes at Cowboy Relays

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Wiley University men's track and field team finished their second meet of the 2025 Outdoor Track and Field season at McNeese State University's Cowboy Relays 'Bob Hayes Challenge' at the Bill and Lena Track and Field Complex Saturday.

The Wildcats predominately competed against athletes from National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I schools. For the second consecutive week, Ronald Garrett was within striking distance of posting a national championship qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdles. His time of 14.65 was 0.15 seconds away from the 'B' qualifying standard. Javoun Goldsby delivered a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (11:15.41). Caleb Benefield threw a personal best 46.36 meters in the javelin. Xavier Hutchinson jumped 6.4 meters in the long jump.

Wiley finished seventh out of 13 schools. The men's and women's team scores were combined. It will head to the Prairie View A&M University Relays on Friday.
