Track and Field open Outdoor Season at Texas A&M-Texarkana
Wiley University men's and women's track and field begin the 2026 outdoor season at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Opener at Pleasant Grove High School on Friday.
Along with the host Eagles, the Wildcats will compete against Arkansas Baptist College and Philander Smith University, a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) school. Field events begin at 9 a.m., with running events starting at 11 a.m.
Wiley competed in a three-meet indoor season. Ronald Garrett Jr. qualified for the 2026 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Indoor Track and Field National Championship. He finished 12th in the 60-meter hurdles. Garrett will look to qualify for the outdoor national championship for the third time, after finishing 10th in the 110-meter hurdles last season. He is the defending HBCUAC champion in the event.
Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo is looking to finish her career strong with her third NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Appearance. At last season's HBCUAC championship, she finished runner-up in the long jump and triple jump.
This meet is the first in an eight-meet slate that will culminate in the 2026 HBCUAC Track and Field Championship hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission at Lee Hedges Stadium on May 1-2. The 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship is May 20-22 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, North Carolina.
