Cross Country heads to Southwestern University Showdown
The Wiley University men's and women's cross country teams head to Georgetown, Texas, for the Southwestern University Showdown on Saturday.
The women will run a six-kilometer race on a golf course and around the Southwestern University athletic complex at 8 a.m. The men's eight-kilometer race starts at 8:50 a.m. The course is mostly grass with a small track section.
All men improved their times at the University of Texas at Tyler Season Opener on September 7. Javoun Goldsby ran the six-kilometer course in 23:38.3 - three minutes faster than his previous best. He earned his second Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Runner of the Week award.
Freshmen Jakatelyn Thomas (27:36) and Remi Pierre (28:45) led the Lady Wildcats in the five-kilometer race. Jean Marie-Farinha followed at 29:00.
