Men's Cross Country competes at SU Showdown
GEORGETOWN, Texas - September 14, 2024 - The Wiley University men's cross country team ran its furthest distance at the 2024 Southwestern University Showdown on Saturday.
The eight-kilometer race, the same distance as the 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Championship, was on an old golf course around Southwestern University's athletic facilities. The Wildcats competed against NCAA Division III schools.
Javoun Goldsby finished the course in 30:16.5, averaging a 6:05 mile pace. Jaylon Donson followed at 35:03.6. Joseph Levier III (36:03.5), Ameariun Harper (36:42.2) and Jaden Cole (38:14.2) completed the top five finishers for the Wildcats.
Wiley will not run until October 5 when it travels to Dallas Baptist University's Old Glory Gallop.
"I feel great about where we are," head coach Christopher McConnell said. "We are ahead of where we were at this time last year. We will remain focused on improving our times."
