Goldsby races for 2024 NAIA Individual National Title

Wiley University men's cross country runner Javoun Goldsby hopes to cap his historic 2024 season by bringing home the individual national title at the 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate of Athletics (NAIA) Men's Cross Country National Championship on Friday at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.

The eight-kilometer race will start at 10:30 a.m. and stream on the NAIA Channel on Urban Edge Network, which can be viewed online or fans can download the free app on their mobile devices or Smart TVs. Live results are also available.

Goldsby will be the first Wildcat since 2014 to run in the NAIA National Championship Meet. He previously qualified in 2022 and 2023 but did not run since the team did not qualify. Jaylon Donson (2023), Joseph Levier III (2022), Marbeq Edgar (2016, 2017), Shevan Parks (2017), Leonard Kiprono (2015, 2016, 2017), Laban Kandie (2016), Patrick Mutai (2013, 2015), Victor Rotich (2013), Paul Sterlen (2013), Jarius Kipkemoi (2011, 2012) and Johnny Watson (2012) also qualified as individuals.

The 2024 season has been monumental for Goldsby, who started the year being selected as the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Preseason Runner of the Year. He claimed six Runner of the Week awards and became the fourth individual conference champion in program history after finishing the 2024 HBCUAC Championship in 29:09.70, his personal best. The junior from Cameron, Texas, is one of 80 qualified individuals. He will face athletes from 36 schools that qualified. The top 40 individuals will earn NAIA All-American. Goldsby looks to become the first Wildcat in program history to accomplish the feat and claim the individual title.
