Men's Cross Country heads to UT-Tyler Season Opener

Wiley University men's cross country prepares for their second meet of the season, traveling to the University of Texas at Tyler's season opener on Saturday at Texas Rose Horse Park.
The eight-kilometer race is scheduled for 8 a.m. This will be the Wildcats' first 8K race of the season. Their last race at that distance was the 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Meet Coverage
 
The defending HBCUAC champion Javoun Goldsby led the Wildcats in their season opener on August 29, finishing the 5K John MacKenzie Invitational in 18:09.14. Freshmen Earl Hurd Jr. and Dwight Bennett followed at 18:16.95 and 19:15.
This is the second straight season the Wildcats have run in this race. Goldsby led the team with a time of 23:38.3 in a six-kilometer race. Jaylon Donson and Ameariun Harper followed at 27:40.5 and 27:41.
 
Following this meet, the Lady Wildcats will compete at the University of Louisiana-Monroe's Invitational on September 12.
