Men's Cross Country finishes UT-Tyler Season Opener

Wiley University men's cross country was led by its freshmen as it wrapped up the University of Texas at Tyler Season Opener Saturday at Texas Rose Horse Park.
 
Earl Hurd Jr. paced the team with a time of 30:07.7 in the eight-kilometer race. He ran at a 6:03 mile pace. Dwight Bennett Jr. followed at 30:47.8, maintaining a 6:11.7 mile pace. Two-time all-conference athlete Jaylon Donson finished in 33:23.5.
 
The Wildcats raced against the host Patriots, as well as St. Edward's University, East Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Dallas, Prairie View A&M University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, East Texas Baptist University, University of Arkansas Rich Mountain, Centenary College of Louisiana and Northwestern State University.
 
Head coach Christopher McConnell thought his team ran well and looks forward to improving on this performance. The Wildcats will run at the University of Louisiana-Monroe Invitational on Friday.
