Hurd Jr. wins HBCUAC Freshman of the Week
Earl Hurd Jr. wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Freshman of the Week after leading Wiley University men's cross country at the University of Texas at Tyler Season Opener.
Hurd finished the eight-kilometer course in 30:07, running at a 6:03 mile pace. He competed against National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II and III athletes. This was his first 8K and his time leads the HBCU Athletic Conference. He ran a 5K in his collegiate debut. Hurd competed at West Memphis High School in West Memphis, Arkansas.
This is the Wildcats second weekly award winner. John Russell Jr. was the Newcomer of the Week for August 25-31.
The Wildcats compete at the University of Louisiana-Monroe Invitational on Friday.
