Camacho wins HBCUAC Defensive Player of the Week

After leading the team in rebounds, Wiley University women's basketball player Elizabeth Camacho claims Week 1 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Defensive Player of the Week for October 21-27, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Camacho grabbed eight rebounds in 32 minutes during the season opener against Langston. She is in her fourth season and is coming off a career junior season with 93 rebounds and 60 points. Camacho is from Guatemala and recently competed with their U20 team.

Wiley plays its home opener on Saturday with its 2024 Homecoming Game against Texas Wesleyan University at 2 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium.
