Nerestant wins Second HBCUAC Defensive Player of the Week Award

After recording two double-doubles and leading her team to two conference victories, Wiley University women's basketball Jessica Nerestant claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for December 9-15, the conference announced Monday.

She put up 11 points and 15 rebounds in a 55-46 victory over Wilberforce University on Friday. On Saturday, she tallied 14 points and 14 rebounds in a 68-50 win over Rust College, giving her five double-doubles on the season. Twenty of her 29 rebounds were on the defensive end. She also added eight steals. Nerestant ranks second in the HBCUAC with 7.1 defensive rebounds per game and fifth with 9.9 total rebounds.

This is Nerestant's second award as she won for November 25-December 1. Wiley has won four weekly awards with Elizabeth Camacho garnering Defensive Player of the Week for October 21-27 and Mary Leday claiming Newcomer of the Week for November 25-December 1.

The Lady Wildcats picked up three conference victories in the HBCUAC Crossover hosted by Wilberforce University. They are on a four-game winning streak and wrap up against Voorhees University.
