Women's Basketball opens Homestand against College of Biblical Studies, UVI
For the first time in 2025, the Wiley University Women's Basketball Team will play in front of their home fans as it begins a five-game homestand against the College of Biblical Studies at 4 p.m. Thursday and the University of the Virgin Islands at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Both games will be streamed on the Wiley University Channel via the Urban Edge Network. Fans can watch them online or through the free application available for download on streaming devices. The Lady Wildcats (7-10, 5-6 HBCUAC) are coming off consecutive losses after their second-half comeback fell short in a 68-62 loss to Philander Smith University on Monday. Tamia Dolls led four double-digit scorers with 12 points. Maya Jones was a field goal short of a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Nerestant provided 11 points and eight rebounds. Celebria Peacock contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
College of Biblical Studies (0-10, 0-3 NCCAA), which competes in the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association (NCCAA), is seeking its first win. Their losses have been decisive with the closest margin being 19 points. Kennedy Moore leads the team with 11.9 points per game. She is followed by Kamiya Royal, who averages 10.
Virgin Islands (0-9, 0-8 HBCUAC) is looking for its first win under new head coach Stephanie Cooper. Only two of its losses have been by less than 15 points. Ashukamay'ah Phillips leads the team with 13 points per game. Kashay Bass leads in rebounds with six per game.
Thursday will be the first meeting between the Lady Wildcats and Ambassadors. Wiley meets the Virgin Islands for the second time on the court. It lost on the road last season and had to forfeit at home due to team discipline. The Lady Wildcats enter this week in a three-way tie for sixth in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference standings.
