Women's Basketball heads to SUNO, Dillard for crucial HBCUAC Encounters

The Wiley University women's basketball team gears up for important Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) contests against Southern University at New Orleans at 6 p.m. Thursday inside the Castle and Dillard University at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dent Hall.

Thursday's game will stream on the Wiley University channel on the Urban Edge Network, which fans can download the free application to their favorite streaming devices. Saturday's game will be on Hudl. Live statistics will also be available. The links are listed in the women's basketball schedule on wileyathletics.com.

The Lady Wildcats (12-10, 8-6 HBCUAC) enter the game on a five-game winning streak and sit in fourth place in the HBCUAC standings. Zacyria Dozier emerges as a standout player, having scored a career-high 17 points in their last game against Tougaloo College. Mary Leday's contribution of 10 points and seven assists also proves vital in Wiley's offensive strategy.

The Lady Knights (7-17, 5-10 HBCUAC) pose a challenge with key players like Jordan Harris and Kaylan Jack, who are averaging 13.5 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. McKenna Harris and Tierra Sylvas turned in double-digit performances in the November 14 game at Wiley. This will be SUNO's penultimate regular season game as it hosts Philander Smith University on Saturday.

The Lady Bleu Devils (16-6, 13-2 HBCUAC) enter the final week in contention for the HBCUAC regular season title and a berth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Opening Round. They trail Stillman College by a game with two left in the regular season. Cassidy Lowe leads the Bleu Devils with 16.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. She has won the last two HBCUAC Defensive Player of the Week Awards. D'Mya Ferguson follows with 11.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Wiley leads the series against SUNO 8-1 with its only setback occurring on November 14. The team dynamics and gameplay have significantly improved since that game. The Lady Wildcats lead the series 10-8 against Dillard but have lost four of the last five meetings, including a 66-55 defeat on November 16. Wiley has won the last two games at Dent Hall.
