Burley garners HBCUAC Newcomer of the Week

After posting two double-digit scoring performances that led to two wins for Wiley University women's basketball, Moriah Burley won Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Newcomer of the Week for December 1-7, the conference announced on Monday.

In Thursday's victory over Southern University at New Orleans, she recorded a double-double with season-highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds. She made a season-high six shots, including three 3-pointers, which helped Wiley overcome an early 12-point deficit. She followed with 13 points against Dillard University on Saturday. For the week, she hit six three-pointers, grabbed 11 rebounds and tallied five assists. The games were her third and fourth double-digit scoring performances this season.

The award is the sixth won by the Lady Wildcats this season. They enter Saturday's game against Philander Smith University on a five-game winning streak and are one of five teams unbeaten in HBCUAC play.
