Women's Soccer renews Highway 80 rivalry against Jarvis Christian

Looking to stay unbeaten, Wiley University women's soccer hits the road for the first time in the 2025 season, taking on its Highway 80 rival Jarvis Christian University at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Lady Wildcats (1-0) opened the 2025 season with a 4-1 victory over North American University on August 25. Irma Garcia, Yamilett Umana, Cynthia Lopez and Nadia Hernandez scored. Mariana Quijano stopped five of six shots. They seek to win consecutive matches for the first time since winning three straight from October 18-22, 2018. The last time they opened the season with consecutive victories was 2016.

 

Wednesday's match will mark the first meeting between the Lady Wildcats and Lady Bulldogs as non-conference opponents. They last played on October 18, 2018 (2,512 days) as Red River Athletic Conference opponents, with Wiley taking a 4-0 victory in Texarkana. From 2014-2018, Wiley went 5-0 against Jarvis Christian, outscoring it 12-0.

This match will mark the start of five straight matches away from Pemberton Field. On Friday and Saturday, the Lady Wildcats will travel to Shreveport to take on Centenary College of Louisiana and Huntingdon College.
