Women's Soccer blanks Huntingdon; sets Program Record for Best Start

SHREVEPORT, La. - Wiley University midfielder Nadia Hernandez and Feryi Sanchez found the back of the net late in the first half. Mariana Quijano didn't allow a shot to get past her as the Lady Wildcats defeated Huntingdon College 2-0 Saturday at Atkins Field.

The Lady Wildcats (4-0-0) become the first team in program history to open the season with four consecutive wins. Its their first shutout victory since September 27, 2024 (five matches, 344 days).

Wiley had early scoring opportunities, but shots by Hernandez and Carolyn Espinoza were wide and high. Sanchez got a shot on goal, but it was stopped by Huntingdon goalkeeper Libby Williams. Hernandez put home the rebound for her third goal of the season, to put Wiley on the board in the 32nd minute. Seven minutes later, Sanchez's second goal in as many matches increased the lead to two.
