Women's Soccer decimates Oakwood, falls to Huston-Tillotson

Wiley University women's soccer wrapped its home schedule with an 11-0 rout over Oakwood University on Saturday at Tatum Eagle Field and a 4-1 loss against Huston-Tillotson University in a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference match on Monday at Pemberton Field.
 
SATURDAY
The Lady Wildcats outshot the Ambassadors 41-1. Yajaira Hernandez started the scoring in the 19th minute. Deyanara Hernandez extended the lead to two with her fifth goal, which was assisted by Carissa Escamilla. Wiley broke the game open with six goals in 12 minutes. Three of them were scored by Nadia Hernandez, who finished the night with four, giving her eight for the season.
 
Leah Ramirez earned her third victory and first career shutout. Wiley's defense prevented the Ambassadors from getting a shot on goal.
 
MONDAY
Deyanara Hernandez gave Wiley the lead with her seventh goal of the season, which was set up by Nadia Hernandez in the seventh minute. Huston-Tillotson evened the score in the 31st minute. Right before halftime, a fight broke out after a physical play by the Lady Wildcats. One player from each team was ejected.
 
The Lady Wildcats (7-4-0, 1-1-0 HBCUAC) fell behind in the 53rd minute. They gave up two more goals in the 65th and 81st minutes. The loss ended a three-match winning streak and dropped Wiley into second place in the HBCUAC West Division.
 
Ramirez suffered her first defeat and stopped three of five shots in 58 minutes. Destiny Allison finished the match and saved four of six shots. Feryi Sanchez led the team with five shots.
 
Wiley will begin the second half of HBCUAC play at Paul Quinn College on October 23.
