Women's Track and Field shine in relays at Cowboy Relays

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Wiley University women's track and field team produced strong performances in the relays against National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I schools during the McNeese State University Cowboy Relays Bob Hayes Challenge Saturday at the Bill and Lena Track and Field Complex.

The 4 x 200-meter relay team of Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo, Kaiden Taylor and freshmen Remi Pierre and Sukanya Pegese finished runner-up at 1:50.77. Tutt-Moutouo, Taylor, Pierre and Ariel Johnson finished third in the 4 x 100-meter relay at 51.47.

The Lady Wildcats didn't have anyone place higher than seventh in individual events. Tutt-Moutouo was within striking distance of qualifying for nationals in the long and triple jumps. Her distance of 5.25 meters in the long jump was 0.5 meters shy of the 'B' qualifying standard. Her leap of 11.07 meters in the triple jump was less than a meter from the qualifying standard.

Wiley finished seventh out of 13 schools, with the men's and women's team scores combined. It will head to the Prairie View A&M Relays on Friday.
