Johnson repeats at 100-meter hurdles champion, Women's Track and Field finish third at HBCUAC Championship

SHREVEPORT, La. - Wiley University women's track and field athlete Ariel Johnson rose to the top of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) as she defended her title in the 100-meter hurdles and several others recorded All-HBCUAC finishes as the Lady Wildcats took third place at the 2025 HBCUAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Friday and Saturday at Lee Hedges Stadium.

Johnson ran 15.49 to outpace a seven-athlete field. Her time was 42 seconds faster than the runner-up. She returned to the podium with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:17.03) and ran a leg on the 4 x 100-meter relay team that finished third.

Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo delivered strong performances in field events. She finished runner-up in the long jump (5.01 meters) and triple jump (10.82 meters). Tutt-Moutouo also placed in the high jump as she cleared 1.42 meters. On the track, she placed fourth in the 400-meter dash. Tutt-Moutouo ran on the 4 x 800-meter relay team, which finished runner-up 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400-meter relay teams, which placed third. Kaiden Taylor and Remi Pierre joined Johnson and Tutt-Moutouo on the 4 x 100-meter relay. Kaiden Taylor and Sukanya Pegese ran with Pierre and Tutt-Moutouo on the 4 x 400-meter relay. Jakatelyn Thomas and Jean-Marie Farinha ran with Pierre and Tutt-Moutouo on the 4 x 800-meter relay.

Thomas finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run and sixth in the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run. Elisa Clay placed in the discus and hammer throw. Pierre placed in the 400-meter dash, hammer and javelin throws.

The Lady Wildcats finished with 120 points. Dillard University won their fourth straight title with 277 points. Talladega College finished runner-up with 140 points. This was the last scheduled meet for the Lady Wildcats. Head coach Christopher McConnell might try to find another meet to give Johnson and Tutt-Moutouo another chance at qualifying for nationals.
