Farinha earns NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete

Wiley University women's track and field athlete Jean-Marie Farinha excelled in the classroom while competing, earning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.

Farinha is one of 1,000 athletes nationwide with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and in at least their second season with their institution. This is the fifth time she's earned the award. Last season, she earned the award as a member of the women's soccer, cross country and track and field teams. She was recognized in the fall after her third cross country season. Farinha also earned the Elite 9 Academic Award at the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Track and Field Championship. She is a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar-Athlete, a selection for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track and Field Team, and a two-time recipient of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Commissioner Honor Roll.

Along with competing on the cross country and track and field teams, Farinha is active in the Wiley University Student Government Association and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
