Volleyball falls at Philander Smith in HBCUAC finale

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. The Wiley University Lady Wildcats faced a challenging encounter against the Philander Smith University Lady Panthers, falling in three sets (25-7, 25-14, 25-16) in an Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) match held at Mims Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats (3-15, 3-11 HBCUAC) saw standout performances from several players. Shyla Starks and Madisyn Moore each contributed significantly with 6 kills apiece. Moore also led with 3 blocks, supported by Starks who added 2 blocks of her own. In the backcourt, Maria Guinyard showcased her defensive skills by leading the team with 9 digs, Leah Monsegue posted nine assists followed by Lynnetra Taylor's four.

Lealani Monsegue stood out as well, delivering 3 powerful aces contributing to her team's scoring efforts. Despite their defeat, the resilience and teamwork displayed by the Wiley Lady Wildcats were evident through their performances on the court.

Looking ahead, the Lady Wildcats close the season at Texas A&M University-Texarkana on November 1. The team aims to finish the 2024 season strong.
