Volleyball returns home to face SUNO, Dillard

Wiley University volleyball begins a two-match homestand against Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) schools Southern University at New Orleans on Friday and the defending postseason champion Dillard University on Saturday.

Friday's match starts at 6 p.m. and will be the annual "Pink Out" match to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Saturday's match starts at noon. Both matches will stream on the Urban Edge Network. Live statistics will also be available.

The Lady Wildcats (3-7, 2-4 HBCUAC) and Knights meet for the second time. Wiley overcame a 2-0 deficit in their first meeting on September 12. Both teams are fighting to stay in the race for the 2025 HBCUAC Volleyball Championship. The Lady Wildcats are tied with Philander Smith for the fourth and final spot in the West Division, but trail in the head-to-head tiebreaker. SUNO trails by a match and also dropped its first meeting against the Panthers.

Dillard (9-6, 5-1 HBCUAC) is looking to keep pace with West Division Leader Huston-Tillotson University. It took advantage of a tired Lady Wildcat squad on September 13. Wiley seeks its first victory over the Bleu Devils since 2019 and its first since joining the conference in 2022.

The Lady Wildcats have seen improvement in its hitting. After failing to reach .100 hitting percentage in its first six matches, they've hit the mark in three of their last four. Jae Jemmott leads the team with 90 kills, averaging 2.65 per set. Madison Herrera is averaging 5.65 assists per set. She has had three matches where she averaged eight or more assists per set.
