Herrera wins HBCUAC Freshman of the Week
After recording a career-high in assists, Wiley University volleyball setter Madison Herrera claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Freshman of the Week for October 6-12.
Herrera recorded 42 assists in three sets against Southern University at New Orleans on Friday. She averaged 14 assists per set. She played the last set against Dillard University on Saturday and tallied nine assists. Through 12 matches, Herrera ranks second in the HBCUAC with 6.46 assists per set.
This is the Lady Wildcats' first HBCUAC weekly award this season and first since October 2023. Wiley travels to Tougaloo College for an HBCUAC match on Saturday, which will be key to both teams' postseason hopes.
