Jemmott, Biggs honored at All-HBCUAC Banquet
Wiley University volleyball players Jae Jemmott and Kerrigan Biggs were recognized by the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) during its annual volleyball championship banquet on November 9 at Eleven Events. Jemmott was selected to the All-HBCUAC Second Team and Biggs represented Wiley on the Champions of Character Team.
Jemmott entered the season as a middle blocker but transitioned to right-side hitter. She led the Lady Wildcats' attack with 151 kills, for an average of 2.90 per set, which ranked fifth in the conference. In 15 matches, she recorded six double-digit kill matches, including a career-high 23 against Southern University at New Orleans on October 10. She had seven matches with multiple blocks with a high of four against NCAA Division III institution Centenary College of Louisiana on August 30. Jemmott is the first Lady Wildcat to earn a spot on First or Second Team since 2022 when Marissa Neal earned a First Team nod.
For the first time, the HBCU Athletic Conference decided to recognize student-athletes of character who followed the five core values of the NAIA Champion of Character program: respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. In her only season with the Lady Wildcats, Biggs immediately became a leader. She was a strong encourager of her teammates.
"Jae and Kerrigan are incredibly deserving of these honors," said Interim Head Coach Chinonye Onwuchekwa, Ph.D. "Jae's transition to a new position was seamless, and she became a dominant force for us. Kerrigan embodies everything the Champion of Character award stands for—she was a true leader and a fantastic role model for our entire squad."
The recognition of Jemmott and Biggs highlights a season of growth and competitive spirit for the Wiley University volleyball program as they continue to build on their foundation for future success.
