Nine earn NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete
Wiley University volleyball had nine athletes recognized for exceptional academic performance earning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.
Maria Luiza Chaves, Leah Monsegue, Lealani Monsegue, Lynnetra Taylor, Morgan Sellers, Rachelle Santos, Annie Narvaez, Erin Ferguson and Jae Jemmott were among the 6,486 fall sport student-athletes, who maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher while competing.
This is the first time the athletes have earned the honor as a member of Wiley University. The team held the department's highest GPA last season at 3.68 with seventeen of eighteen players maintaining a 3.0 or higher grade-point average during the academic year.
Wiley University sponsors 13 varsity sports, women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's outdoor track and field, softball and baseball. It competes in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC).
