Volleyball releases Action-Packed 2026 Schedule
MARSHALL, Texas — The Wiley University volleyball program officially unveiled its complete schedule for the 2026 season on Monday afternoon. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Chinonye Onwuchekwa, DBA, the Lady Wildcats are set to compete in a robust 28-match slate—including seven highly anticipated home contests—marking a return to a full schedule after limited campaigns the past two seasons.
Early Season Tournaments and Historic Matchups
The Lady Wildcats will kick off the season on August 22, hosting Texas College for their 2026 home opener for the second consecutive year.
Following the opener, Wiley hits the road for back-to-back tournaments featuring several first-time opponents in program history:
-
Florida College Tournament (August 28–29): The team will travel to Temple Terrace, Florida, for four matches against Warner University, Life University (Ga.), New College of Florida, and the host Lady Falcons.
-
Fort Valley State Tournament (September 4–6): Wiley heads to Georgia for a four-game stretch against a competitive mix of NCAA programs. They will face Central State University (Ohio) (NCAA Division II), Savannah State University (Ga.) (NCAA Division I), Allen University (S.C.) (NCAA Division II), and the host Wildcats (NCAA Division II).
Notable Road Trips and Conference Rivalries
The non-conference schedule also features a historic trip to Oklahoma, where Wiley will visit Langston University for the first time since 2017. This marks the first meeting between the two programs since they squared off at Paul Quinn College in 2023.
Wiley officially begins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) play on September 16 with the renewal of the storied "Highway 80 Rivalry" against Jarvis Christian University at the E.W. Rand Center. This will be the first conference matchup between the two rivals since 2021. The teams will meet again for a rematch in Marshall on October 13.
Home Stretch and Postseason Outlook
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Lady Wildcats live in the fall, as nearly the entire home slate is packed between September 25 and October 16.
Postseason Format: The 2026 HBCUAC Championship will be hosted at Bossier Parish Community College. For the second consecutive season, the top four teams from each division will qualify for the tournament.
