The Wiley University women's cross country team will toe the starting line for the first time at Texas Christian University's John MacKenzie Invitational at AP Ranch in Ft. Worth, Texas at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The race is five-kilometers. Live results will be available and the link is listed in the women's cross country schedule on wileyathletics.com.

The Lady Wildcats return three runners from last season's team, which finished fourth at the 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Championship. Remi Pierre and Ja'Katelyn Thomas are looking to build on their freshman seasons, as they ran the top times all season. Thomas earned HBCUAC Runner of the Week. Jean-Marie Farinha enters her fourth and final season, hoping to finish her career strong. Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo, who ran in 2022 and 2023 returns to the team. SuKanya Pegese competed in track and field last spring and will run in the fall.

Head coach Christopher McConnell, who enters his second season, brought in four athletes - three freshmen and a junior college transfer to strengthen the roster. This marks the second consecutive season Wiley has run in this meet. It's the first of six that will help prepare it for the 2025 HBCUAC Championship on October 17.

Following this invitational, the Lady Wildcats will run at the University of Texas at Tyler's Season Opener on September 6.
