Pierre, Thomas earn Preseason All-HBCUAC
Wiley University women's cross country athletes Remi Pierre and Ja'Katelyn Thomas were recognized for their impressive debut seasons by landing spots on the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Preseason All-HBCUAC Team, the conference announced on Monday.
The top 10 returning runners from the 2024 HBCUAC Championship earned spots on the team. Both athletes ran the fastest times on the Lady Wildcats all season. Pierre led the team at the HBCUAC Championship with a time of 31:13. Her five-kilometer personal best was 26:40 at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Ouachita Baptist. Thomas earned HBCUAC Runner of the Week for September 30-October 6. She ran a personal best 26:27 in the Old Glory Gallop five-kilometer race hosted by Dallas Baptist University.
The Lady Wildcats finished fourth at the 2024 HBCUAC Championship. They opened the season on Friday at the John MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Texas Christian University. Wiley will run at the University of Texas at Tyler's Season Opener on Saturday.
