Women's Cross Country wraps UT-Tyler Season Opener
Wiley University women's cross country raced against athletes from National Collegiate Athletic Association schools at the University of Texas at Tyler Cross Country Opener Saturday at Texas Rose Horse Park.
The Lady Wildcats competed against the host Patriots, as well as St. Edward's University, East Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Dallas, Prairie View A&M University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, East Texas Baptist University and Northwestern State University. Freshman Samarea Womack made her debut and led the team with a time of 27:02.3 in the five-kilometer race. Kaiden Taylor followed at 27:04. Remi Pierre (28:02.5) and Jean-Marie Farinha (28:19) finished after them.
Head coach Christopher McConnell thought his team ran well and looks to build on this performance. The Lady Wildcats will head to the University of Louisiana-Monroe Invitational on Friday.
