Womack earns HBCUAC Freshman of the Week
After leading Wiley University women's cross country at the University of Texas at Tyler Season Opener on Saturday, Samarea Womack was named Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week.
Womack made her collegiate debut and finished the five-kilometer course in 27:02. At Lincoln High School and Humanities and Communications Magnet, she ran sprints and the 800-meter run. In her freshman season, she qualified for the Class 4A Region 2 Championship in the 4 x 400-meter relay. This is the first weekly honor won by the Lady Wildcats.
Wiley competes in the University of Louisiana-Monroe Invitational on Friday.
