Men's Basketball drops regular season finale against Paul Quinn

MARSHALL, Texas – Despite a 23-point performance from Shamir Mosley, Wiley University dropped its regular-season finale 72-64 to Paul Quinn College on Thursday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Wildcats now shift their focus to the postseason as they prepare for the 2026 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Hope Credit Union Basketball Championship in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Wiley started the contest with early momentum behind buckets from Mosley, Cortez Collins, and Raymond Guillory. The Wildcats held a 21-19 lead with 6:43 remaining in the first half, but the offense stalled shortly after. Wiley failed to convert a field goal for over four minutes, allowing Paul Quinn to capitalize with a decisive 12-0 run.

By halftime, the Tigers had built a 35-25 advantage. Paul Quinn maintained a double-digit lead for nearly the entire second half, with the margin peaking at 23 points with 10:47 left on the clock.

Wiley mounted a late surge in the final seven minutes, taking advantage of a cold stretch where Paul Quinn hit just 2-of-10 shots and committed three turnovers. A steal by Caleibria McDonald led to a transition dunk and a successful three-point play for Mosley. McDonald later added a layup-and-one of his own to trim the deficit to single digits, but the comeback effort ran out of time.
