Women's Basketball continues road trip at Texas A&M-Texarkana

Riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak, the Wiley University women's basketball team continues its season-long seven-game road trek with a stop at Texas A&M-University Texarkana at 6 p.m. Tuesday inside the Patterson Student Center.

The matchup marks the sixth game of a seven-game road swing for the Lady Wildcats (12-4, 7-2 HBCUAC), who are 6-2 in road games and 3-0 against non-conference opponents.

Here is what to watch as the former Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) rivals meet for the first time as non-conference opponents:

Familiar Foes, New Stakes

While Wiley now competes outside the RRAC, this contest represents the fourth time this season the Lady Wildcats have faced a familiar conference foe. Wiley previously swept a home-and-home series with Texas College and hosted LSU-Shreveport in October.

This is Wiley's first visit to Texarkana since Feb. 8, 2022. The all-time series between the two programs is currently deadlocked at 2-2.

Wildcats on a Roll

Wiley enters the contest following back-to-back victories over Southern University at New Orleans (65-49) and a thrilling 88-81 overtime win against Dillard University.

Key contributors during the streak include:

  • Jessica Nerestant: Dominating the paint with a double-double average of 13.5 points and 10 rebounds per game.

  • Keimora Banks: Providing consistent perimeter scoring at 13.5 points per contest.

The game also features a "revenge" narrative for Wiley's Alexis Foster, who returns to Texarkana after appearing in 23 games for the Lady Eagles last season.

Scouting the Lady Eagles

Texas A&M-Texarkana (12-3 RRAC) enters Wednesday on a four-game winning streak. While the Lady Eagles have been dominant in conference play, they have struggled against non-conference opponents, posting a 1-4 record in such games.

The Lady Eagles' attack is led by:

  • Breyionce George: Averages 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds.

  • Imani Rothschild: The primary facilitator (3.4 assists per game) who is coming off a productive week where she averaged 14 points and five rebounds.

  • Depth Concerns: While Eleionna Brown (13 ppg) and Chionne Dailey (11.7 ppg) provide high scoring outputs, they have appeared in only nine and 10 games, respectively.

How to Follow

The game will be broadcast live on the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Network. Fans can also follow live statistics via the women's basketball schedule page at wileyathletics.com.
